New insights, new layout
Thanks to recent research, the chronology of Vermeer's work has been revised. As a result, the paintings are now displayed in a completely new order. For example, “The Girl with the Red Hat” and “The Lacemaker” are two of the paintings that, according to research, were painted later and are now displayed in a different place.
Interactive experience table
Another new feature is the eight interactive screens. These display the digital discovery tour “Closer to Vermeer”, created by the Rijksmuseum in honour of the retrospective exhibition in 2023. This digital presentation allows visitors to view all of Johannes Vermeer's 17th-century paintings in ultra-high resolution (5 micrometres). British actor and writer Stephen Fry provides the English voice-over for the digital discovery tour. The Dutch voice-over is provided by actress Joy Delima.
From Friday 13 February, all four floors will be open to the public again.
We look forward to welcoming you back at the regular admission prices. Will you come and admire the renovated exhibition?
